The Texas Workforce Registry, part of the Texas Early Childhood Professional Development System (TECPDS), is a web-based database where early childhood professionals can store and access their education and employment history, as well as the professional development hours they have completed. Professionals with a TECPDS account can also access the new Find My Career Lattice tool on TECPDS. The Texas Workforce Registry launched in 2013 and recently added some new features to support early childhood professionals.

The Texas Workforce Registry offers features for the early childhood workforce through TECPDS accounts, available at no cost:
- Specialist: An early childhood professional who provides coaching, mentoring and/or training, to support practitioners and other professionals in continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Common job titles for specialists include: coordinator, mentor, coach, school specialist, and trainer
- Center Director/Administrator: Early childhood program administrators are those professionals who are responsible for planning, managing, implementing, and evaluating early childhood programs
- Common job titles include: center director, site manager, school administrator, program manager, coordinator, and principal
- Practitioner: Early childhood practitioners are those professionals (regardless of early childhood setting) who provide direct instruction and/or care to young children
- Common job titles for practitioners include: teacher, assistant teacher, provider, and caregiver
Housed at the Children’s Learning Institute at UTHealth Houston, the Texas Workforce Registry and TECPDS are part of CLI’s State Initiatives, programs that support early childhood quality improvement across the state and deliver resources to early childhood programs, professionals, and families. The Texas Core Competencies for Early Childhood Practitioners and Administrators, as well as the Core Competencies training modules hosted on CLI Engage, are also part of TECPDS.
